Work has begun to enhance the traffic flow and safety in your area. Pre-works for a new traffic light intersection on Berrigan Drive are officially underway by our civil contractor, Densford Civil. Approved as part of the Local Structure Plan, this major upgrade to traffic access for Glen Iris Estate is designed to create a safer, more efficient road network for everyone coming to and from the community.
Once completed, the new traffic lights will replace two uncontrolled right hand turn intersections on Berrigan Drive, significantly improving safety for drivers entering and exiting the community. The project has been developed in close consultation with Main Roads WA and the City of Cockburn to enable the signals to be synchronised with surrounding lights at Jandakot Road and Kwinana Freeway, to ensure smooth traffic movements in peak periods.
As part of the project, Turnbury Park Drive will be fully closed to Berrigan Drive, and the nearby Lakes Boulevard intersection will transition to a “left in, left out” arrangement. These changes will help better manage traffic and ensure safer access for residents.
Work will continue throughout 2025, with the traffic lights expected to be operational in the last quarter of this year. In addition to providing a safer road network the upgraded intersection is essential to accommodate access to the proposed new shopping centre and significant upgrades and access to the proposed Prinsep Park community recreation facilities. These are both really exciting future developments proposed for our local area.
